David Cobb, live!

Busboys and Poets, 5th and K Streets NW

Sunday, July 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Move to Amend’s dynamo spokesperson addressing:

Overreaching Corporate Power: What Can Be Done?

David Cobb, a past Green Party presidential candidate, is now a primary force behind Move To Amend.  MTA is having great success in organizing ballot initiatives and resolutions stating that corporations are not people and money is not speech.  A great organizer, George Friday, will also speak.

Politics looks more and more like an auction with seats going to the candidate who raises the most money. The “level playing field” is now heavily tilted toward the wealthy.  Democracy is fast becoming a cashocracy ruled by plutocrats who control the purse strings. The January 2010 Supreme Court Citizens Unitedruling gave corporations and rich fat cats full rein to provide unlimited amounts of money, funneled through super PACs, to the politician of their choice and much of it able to be kept secret.

David Cobb leads Move to Amend

Meet with folks in the DC area for whom the issue of corporate power is paramount and who are now acting on it or want to act on it.  Some of the evening will be spent organizing, so please bring colleagues who have teaching, training, and speaking skills.

This is not a ticketed event.  Enjoy Busboys fabulous food and drink and a thoroughly stimulating evening.
